The first thing you notice in the movie, is the comedy as Peter Parker(Tobey Maguire) runs after the school bus. How many times do you remember chasing down the bus when you're late for school? Well, the first part of the movie is basically introducing all the charactors. Mary Jane,(Kirsten Dunst) the girl next door, Harry Osborn(James Franco) Peter's best friend. Then showing how Peter gets his powers. As the first part of the movie rolls on you seem to understand how Peter feels. Being bulled around and being as noticable by the other students as a spot on the ground. Then, he gets his powers. He does everything almost any of us would do if we just found out we had powers, showing this movie has some realistic quailities you don't get in most super hero movies. Then, he becomes the true Hero. You get to swing along with him, as the graphics are so compelling that it is hard to even see what is real and what is not. You get to swing with Spider-man through the city and battle his first super villan, the Green Goblin(Willem Dafoe). Complicated relationships, great graphics and one out-standing cast shows that this movie will be a must have when it comes out on Video and DVD. The ending, leaves a wide open space for the squeal coming out in 2004. This movie gets 4 1/2 stars out of 5. A must see for all young at hearts, hopeless romantics and comic book lovers.
